PS 290Q - A.C.E. Academy for Scholars at the Geraldine Ferraro Campus

55-20 Metropolitan Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with PS 290Q! They create real-world connections using a cross-disciplinary approach through project-based learning to foster our scholars’ independence, perseverance, and self-expression. The classes are open to all PS 290Q K-5 students, from beginner to advanced levels. The lesson plans will be adjusted based on the level of the students.

  • For beginner levels: The students will learn the basics of chess and build a solid foundation needed to move ahead - from the movements and values of the pieces, to tactics and different checkmate patterns.

  • For intermediate levels: The students will have a better understanding of the patterns, tactics, and principles in the opening, middle game, and end game.

  • For advanced levels: The students will focus on the strategizing, thinking process, and have a deep understanding of different openings and endgame techniques.

Late Pick-up Fee Policy: Parents or guardians are kindly reminded that pick-up time for children is scheduled for 5:00 PM. A grace period until 5:15 PM is provided to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. A late pick-up fee of $25 will be charged for the first 15 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time. For every additional minute after the initial 15 minutes, an additional $1 per minute will be charged. This fee is payable directly to the instructor on the day of the late pick-up. This fee is implemented to ensure the efficient operation of the program and to respect the time of our staff. It is imperative that children are picked-up punctually to maintain the safety and well-being of all children under our care. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this policy.
